Wild about WITS!

This week my students enjoyed working with our WITS writer Ms. Stephanie.
The children have consumed poems and were able to use descriptive words to help readers visualize. Incorporating WITS with our curriculum adds so much to our creative third graders writing. I look forward to sharing some of their writing soon.

Awesome Experts

Today our class wrote an "Expert Jot List". They listed all the things they were "experts" in and then they wrote about it. Here are some things they shared in Author's Chair:

Emma, age 8 wrote:
The Lesson:
It all started when I was at Cho-Yeh. When I signed up for horseback riding. I never went on a horse before so the next day I went in the ring. I rode Scarlet, a beautiful horse. So, I got on and and liked the horse. So after that I kept riding and riding and I became an EXPERT!

Kadi, age 8:
I became an one mighty expert at softball my first very year. I just played a lot and practiced a lot and that's how I became a mighty good expert at softball!

Jacob, age 8:
What makes me an expert when I draw is that I take my time. I only work fast when I do not have time. I love drawing. Even as a little kid! When I was at YMCA my favorite things to do was: reading and drawing. When I was in pre-K or Kindergarten I always drew about "Sonic the Hedgehog". I just loved drawing about Sonic. A few years later I wanted to improve my drawing. So, I kept practicing and practicing.
